ADR/IMDG-basic Training with emphasis on lithium batteries (107017)


Description
The course is designed for:
Employees involved in transport of lithium batteries or equipment containing such batterries or lithium batteries packed with equipment.

The course covers the provisions governing road, sea and air transport of small lithium batteries (low capacity/quantity). These batteries are often used in drilling machines, laptops, mobile phones and other portable electronic devices, in addition to vehicles like segboards. But also, powerbanks belong to this category.

The provisions concerning large lithium batteries (high capacity/quantity) applicable for road and sea transport are also covered. Such batteries are used in many products like E-bikes, boats, lifting equipment and other equipment requiring high performance lithium batteries.

The regulations stipulate:
Employees involved in shipments of small lithium batteries for airfreight must have received adequate instructions that apply for the actual shipment(s) in accordance with section 1.6 in the IATA regulations.
Employees involved in shipments of small lithium batteries for road and sea transport must comply with the specific provisions as set out in the ADR agreement (road) and IMDG code (sea).

Employees involved in the transport of large lithium batteries for road and sea transport must be trained in accordance with chapter 1.3 and 1.10 in the ADR agreement.

Employees involved in the transport of large lithium batteries for sea transports must be trained in accordance with chapter 1.3 and 1.4 in the IMDG code.

Prerequisites and competencies:
Basic to intermediate English skills are required, as the course is provided in English. The course complies with the training requirements in chapter 1.3 and 1.10 of the ADR agreement and chapter 1.3 and 1.4 of the IMDG code.

In addition, the course complies with the training requirements governing air shipments of small lithium batteries as stipulated in IATA regulations Section 1.6. The training does not comply with Section 1.5 in the IATA regulations.

Validity
The training shall be repeated no later than every 24 months to keep up-to-date with the requirements for air shipments as stipulated in chapter 1.6 in the IATA provisions.
